Tips & Tricks - DIY Camper Shoe Storage

Hey Wanderers! There are lots of things that are complicated when moving into a tiny space. Storage of any kind is a must when living in a small space! One thing we had trouble finding the right fit for was shoe storage. [ Cause, ya know...2 females. We have lots of shoes ] We had a shoe rack like the one below from our brick & mortar and had it turned on it's side in our closet, but that was not cutting it. It took up a good 4 feet in our closet - which is valuable real estate!

After lots of searching through Pinterest, we decided to try and find a bedskirt shoe pocket deal. We found one at Camping World, but they don't ship to PO Boxes...bummer. The only other ones we could find were made from plastic and we were scared it wasn't going to hold up... aaaand they were upwards of $25 a piece to hold 5 pairs of shoes. Sigh.

So after even more research, my amazing wife came up with a brilliant idea! She originally said to use PVC pipe and paint it, but we realized this method would work a lot better and fit more into our aesthetic. Plus, less work. WOOT!

So, how did we do it? I'm gonna tell ya. We got short, extendable curtain rods & extendable curtain rod wall brackets (to keep it far enough away from the bed that the shoes will fit) and screwed them into the bed. BAM! Shoe storage that's out of the way, pretty to look at and didn't cost us an arm and a leg!

What do you use to store your shoes? Have you made something yourself or ordered from online? Let me know in the comments!
