Places to See in California - Monterey

If you're in California and looking for places to see, Monterey should definitely be on your list! We spent a wonderful day here on our Cali-moon and enjoyed every minute of it!

One of the first things we did was walk down Cannery Row - which was amazing! We took our time walking, being typical tourists, taking in the scenery & history. It was absolutely beautiful and if you get the chance, you have to check it out!

[we didn't get any pictures of Cannery Row because we were too into it and totally forgot LOL!]

We took the scenic route, but we eventually made our way to our actual destination -

[yes, I wanted to see this because of Finding Nemo... don't judge me]

We had a blast at the aquarium! Again, didn't get more than one picture, but it was soooo worth it. When you buy your tickets, they ask if you're celebrating anything. When we told them it was our honeymoon, we each got a button to wear for our visit that said "we're celebrating!" The coolest part about this was that anytime an employee saw us, they'd ask what we were celebrating and then congratulate us!

It was so heartwarming to be surrounded by joy and happiness from complete strangers!

We made our way through the aquarium slowly, enjoying the beautifully crafted exhibits and all of the knowledge they held. When we were heading towards the door, a young lady came running up to us and asked - again - what we were celebrating. When we told her it was our honeymoon and we'd had the aquarium on our list of places we had to visit, she said "wait right here!" and ran off.

I found both Nemo and Dory!!!

She came back a few minutes later with a young man in tow with a huge grin on his face. She introduced him (I cannot remember his name for the life of me) and left us in his care. He said because we'd made the aquarium a prime stop on our Cali-moon, he'd gotten permission to give us a behind the scenes tour of the jellyfish exhibit! WHAT!

We got a private tour of - literally - behind the jellyfish exhibits! Those tiny little round portholes that we see from the front are really like 1/4 of the actual enclosure! We got to learn a lot about each type of jellyfish they house, what they eat, how to counteract a sting and Chelsea even got to pet a Moon Jelly!!!

[I was given the opportunity, but it wasn't happening. I can't get over the slimy texture]

We were so blessed to get this crazy opportunity and thanked the young man profusely. We loved our trip to The Monterey Bay Aquarium and it is definitely on our "go back to" list!

I can't tell you where we ate that night, but it was definitely on Cannery Row somewhere. We took a few more pictures and found the Cannery Row Monument!

We enjoyed our trip to Monterey California so much and we hope you get the chance to see it yourself!
